Position Summary
The Director, Product Innovation & Development plays a leadership role in  the development and advancement of the firm’s product innovation agenda across ETFs, mutual funds, and alternative investment strategies. The role focuses on identifying, evaluating, and shaping differentiated product opportunities aligned with strategic priorities, market trends, and client demand.

Working closely with the VP, this individual will play a key role in driving the innovation pipeline, ensuring product opportunities are well-defined, commercially viable, and ready to progress through the product development lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

Innovation Pipeline Development

  • Work with the team to develop and advance the product innovation pipeline
  • Identify and shape new product ideas across ETFs, mutual funds, and alternative structures
  • Lead the evaluation and support prioritization of opportunities based on strategic alignment, market demand, and commercial viability
  • Ensure product concepts are clearly defined and sufficiently developed to move into execution

 

Development of Strategic Opportunities

  • Lead the development of complex or high-priority product initiatives, including early-stage structuring and feasibility analysis
  • Translate market trends and client needs into actionable product concepts
  • Develop business cases and supporting rationale for new product opportunities
  • Partner with the VP to define and evolve the firm's product innovation strategy across ETFs, mutual funds, alternatives, and emerging investment structures.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Investment Management, Distribution, Legal, Marketing, and Operations to refine and advance product ideas
  • Partner with other members of the product team to support transition from concept to launch
  • Act as a key point of coordination for innovation-related initiatives
  • Influence strategic decisions through data-driven insights and market trends.

 

Product Strategy & Market Insights

  • Monitor industry trends, competitive developments, and regulatory changes to inform product opportunities
  • Contribute to the development of product strategy through insights and idea generation
  • Develop and maintain a multi-year innovation roadmap aligned with business growth objectives.
  • Support the identification of emerging areas of opportunity

 

Governance & Stakeholder Communication

  • Own the preparation of materials for product governance forums and internal committees
  • Clearly articulate the rationale, risks, and commercial considerations of product opportunities
  • Maintain alignment across stakeholders throughout the development process

 

Qualifications

Experience

  • 6–8+ years of experience in asset management, with a focus on product development, strategy, or innovation
  • Experience across ETFs and/or multi-asset investment products preferred
  • Demonstrated experience developing and advancing product ideas

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of investment products and market structure
  • Strategic thinking with ability to translate insights into actionable opportunities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Education

  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field
  • CFA or progress toward CFA considered an asset

The expected annual base salary range for this role is $135,000 - $164,000, which is determined based on skills, knowledge and experience and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for annual short-term incentive, health and well-being benefits, retirement and savings plan, paid time off and career development.
