The Role: The Director, Internal Audit is an integral part of the Internal Audit team. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role and provide oversight of operational, regulatory, strategic, and/or financial audits to ensure they add value to the organization and that they aid in the achievement of strategic objectives. This individual will be instrumental in our continued transformational efforts and the elevation of the audit function and will report to the VP of Internal Audit.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Internal Audit strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee risk-based assurance engagements and risk advisory services.
  • Identify key business processes and risks; contribute to annual risk assessment and audit plan.
  • Communicate audit results to Senior Management and support reporting to executives and committees.
  • Review and supervise engagement planning and reporting for timely, high-quality completion.
  • Build relationships through ongoing communication and engagement with business partners.
  • Coach and mentor audit teams; manage performance evaluations.
  • Demonstrate clear, influential written and verbal communication.

 

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline; preferred professional designations (CPA, CIA, CFA, FRM, MBA).
  • 10+ years’ relevant experience in Financial Services; audit regulatory, Big 4, and/or project management experience are assets.
  • Experience with data analytics and/or data visualization.
  • Critical and innovative thinking to provide stakeholder value.
  • Strong business/industry knowledge for value-added insights.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and team management skills; proven leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilities.
  • Accountability for self and team; effective delegation and perseverance.
  • Fosters open, honest communication and trust.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Investment, Asset or Wealth Management.
  • Experience with the use of AI in audit practices.
