As a key relationship partner for stakeholders and partners including executives, business leaders, HRBPs, HR COE's, Legal, Risk, and Enterprise Compliance, you will provide strategic insight and foresight to address employee matters, develop programs that anticipate risk and create an exceptional people experience.

 

What you will do:

Strategy

  • Analyze the external environment and IGM’s business strategy to set Employment Practices (“EP”) priorities that guide leaders and employees to make confident, values-driven decisions
  • Foster a culture where people feel safe to speak up and know that decisive action follows when standards are challenged
  • Identify emerging trends and act quickly to safeguard our work environment
  • Advise on employment risk trends, co-create proactive solutions with partners, and guide the organization through complex, high-risk employment matters

Governance

  • Design, implement, and monitor HR policies and practices that ensure fairness and clarity for everyone
  • Address workplace conduct matters such as respect, harassment, discrimination, privacy, hybrid work, and progressive discipline —making sure our standards are clear and consistently applied
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to drive effective policy application and resolve complex investigations
  • Conduct and/or oversee investigations into workplace conduct matters, ensuring thoroughness, fairness, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with stakeholders—including strong partnership with Legal—to drive effective policy application and resolve complex investigations
  • Ensure IGM meets all employment legislation and regulatory requirements, across our locations
  • Develop and maintain frameworks and programs to manage escalations and support proactive, confident decision-making
  • Represent HR in strategic initiatives, advising on employment-related risks and presenting at senior operating tables

Case Management

  • Optimize the EP case management system to quickly identify, address, and resolve issues
  • Resolve individual employment risk situations with empathy and expertise
  • Support HR and business leaders in managing escalated cases, collaborating closely with legal and compliance teams
  • Triage and escalate high-risk issues, keeping management informed with regular and relevant updates
  • Advise senior HR leaders on employment standards, employment law, and related policies

Reporting

  • Identify key EP metrics, lead research and trend analysis, and transform findings into actionable insights—providing data-driven recommendations to HR leadership
  • Deliver clear, actionable recommendations to HR and business leaders by creating and distributing employment risk data and case insights, while enhancing reporting through dashboards and tools

Leadership

  • Inspire and empower a high-performing team of EP Professionals to deliver on HR and business strategies.
  • Foster a culture of adaptability, psychological safety, and growth through feedback and coaching
  • Lead by example, driving change and celebrating team achievements.
  • Build strong, collaborative partnerships across HR and the business, championing innovation and continuous improvement, while delivering client-focused services and enabling streamlined decision-making across HR CoEs and HRBPs

What you need to succeed:

  • A university degree in Law and a minimum of 10 years of HR experience, specializing in Employee Relations/ Employment Practice.
  • You demonstrate ability to conduct and oversee complex investigations with integrity and discretion.
  • You possess strong collaboration and partnership skills, particularly with Legal counterparts, to ensure alignment and compliance
  • You demonstrate a growth mindset, seek out new perspectives, challenge the status quo, and empower others to innovate and learn. You leverage technology to solve business problems and create opportunities
  • You base decisions on facts, use data to generate insights, define and measure business outcomes, and adjust strategies as needed. You stay informed through current research and trends
  • You build connections across functions and geographies, validate priorities and outcomes, collaborate and co-create solutions, and support an environment where people can be themselves and excel
  • You engage and influence stakeholders, navigate matrix organizations, adapt and pivot through ambiguity and change, address challenges, and meet timelines. Experience working in agile environments is an asset
  • You shape, produce, and deliver ideas, presentations, and documents tailored to executive-level audiences

As this position is posted in Montréal, Toronto and Winnipeg, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English.
