The Mackenzie Investments Legal Department is currently recruiting for the position of 2025 Summer Student. You will work closely with a group of legal professionals and business leaders across IGM Financial’s asset management businesses (Mackenzie Investments and IG Wealth Management). Mackenzie Investments is a holistic asset-management partner for thousands of Canadian financial advisors and the investors they support.

Summer Student Position 2025

The legal department at Mackenzie Investment supervises, directs and advises on legal matters concerning the operations of IGM Financial Inc. and its subsidiaries.

 

Join a team that is engaged in continuous learning and knowledge sharing while providing proactive and pragmatic legal advice to mitigate risks and enable strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will be involved in a wide range of projects and will work collaboratively with colleagues in the legal and corporate secretary departments. You will receive feedback and support to refine and continue to grow your legal skills and abilities.

You will have the opportunity to work in different practice areas, strengthening your legal skills and gaining insight into substantive law and the role of in-house counsel. Below are a few examples of areas you may be exposed to:

 

  • Drafting prospectuses and material contracts for mutual funds and ETFs
  • Regulatory review and analysis
  • Legal research and writing
  • Introduction to the role of in-house counsel
  • Supporting institutional investment management activities in Canada and other jurisdictions
  • Practice management, ethics and professionalism

 

Requirements:  

  • You are currently enrolled as a student in a Faculty of Law program
  • You possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • You want to thrive in a multi-project and multi-deadline environment
  • You have strong decision-making skills with the ability to work effectively and independently
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
