Position:

As part of the communications team, the Manager, Communications will develop and implement strategic CSO divisional communications for IGM Financial which includes IG Wealth Management, Mackenzie Investments and Counsel Portfolio Services.  Their expertise in organizational communications or corporate communications are critical requirements to lead the development of communications strategies and campaigns required to help support CSO. Additionally, help the senior leadership team communicate their vision while engaging and informing employees and leaders.

The individual will play a lead consulting role and work collaboratively with business partners, business leads, strategic project leaders and sponsors to design and develop communication strategies and plans. Additionally, this individual will help craft and articulate key messages across a range of activities and tailoring these messages toward specific audiences. Providing oversight and mentorship to help guide the editorial direction of the team, this role will leverage their proven superior writing skills to help drive strategic priorities through communication, storytelling and thought leadership.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Communication strategy development and planning
    • Play a lead role in working with business stakeholders to develop targeted, integrated, creative communications plans that effectively engage audiences and are aligned with industry best practices while contributing to all key strategic leadership and project requirements.
    • Work closely with the Senior Manager, Communications & Change Management to help guide and assist other team members to ensure campaigns/plans are moving forward in a timely manner and are addressing the needs of all stakeholders.
    • Contribute to change management strategies on strategic projects to drive positive business outcomes and benefits realization.
    • Create and/or edit communications and commentaries for senior leaders.
    • Develop new engagement methods to reflect the hybrid reality of our workplace of the future.
    • Guide and create communications that promote organizational transparency.
    • Assess and evaluate departmental communications to ensure their effectiveness and ensure corrective tactics are taken when required with an aim of driving for successful business outcomes for our business partners every time.
  • Consulting expertise for business leads and senior leadership
    • Provide expert communications advice and recommendations to all key business partners.
    • Serve as a senior communications representative on various strategic or enterprise working committees.
    • Work collaboratively and creatively with peer communication professionals within the organization or in the wider organizational communications community to help ensure all strategies and approaches are grounded in contemporary best practices with a focus on the latest innovations in the market and in the field of communications.
  • Thought leadership and mentorship
    • Provide thought leadership within the communication team and to business partners within the division to help model the way and what “good communications” can help accomplish. This role plays an important role in influencing perceptions in a quickly evolving business environment where engagement, corporate brand strategies, and cultural changes stemming from the hybrid workplace will help set the stage and tone on how employees will need to engage and collaborate.
    • Assist the Senior Manager and play a mentoring role to contribute to the development of Communications Senior Specialists and help highlight paths for their career progression as they acquire experience and expertise in the practice.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in corporate communications, organizational communications, or other relevant communications fields such as journalism.
  • Post-secondary degree /diploma and professional certification/designation in either corporate communications, organizational communications, external communications, journalism, or public relations such as the IABC.
  • Effective and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects within tight deadlines.
  • Expertise in interacting with diverse groups and individuals including different levels of management.
  • Creative mindset to help foster partnership, collaboration, innovation and the ability to build and manage strong relationships.
  • Knowledge of change management principles and communications requirements is an asset.
  • Bilingual in English & French is an asset.
