Position Overview:

 

The Investment Director, Sustainable Strategies, will be responsible for leading the strategic direction and management of Mackenzie’s sustainable investment product offerings. This role reports to the VP, Senior Investment Director, Equity and Sustainable Investing. The Investment Director will play a crucial role in differentiating Mackenzie’s sustainable solutions, driving growth, and ensuring the effective communication of our sustainable investment strategies to both internal and external stakeholders.

 

The Investment Director will demonstrate a deep understanding of sustainable investing, develop appropriate strategies with the needs of the client at the center, and conduct needs analysis for the business to assist product positioning. The role will involve extensive collaboration with portfolio management teams, sales, marketing, and other functional units to drive the sustainable investment agenda forward.

 

 

Product Management & Strategy:

  • Develop and execute business-specific product management strategies for sustainable investment products.
  • Lead short and long-term business planning, including product lifecycle decisions and associated prioritizations.
  • Conduct competitive analysis to assist product positioning and differentiation.
  • Develop and communicate expert insights on sustainable investment industry trends.
  • Create content for marketing collateral, including fact sheets, brochures, or web content with the support of the marketing department; develop storylines for fund positioning and provide input on public relations, website, sales presentations, and talking points.
  • Coordinate with portfolio management, sales, and marketing to ensure and communicate consistent product positioning and messaging.
  • Lead development of proactive insights, perspectives, product training, and support to sales teams.

 

Business Analysis and Revenue Growth

  • Lead and maintain market analysis of the global sustainable investing market, identifying risks and opportunities for Mackenzie’s multi-channel focus.
  • Analyze assets and flows, competitive performance and impact metrics, pricing, and positioning.
  • Support the vision and market differentiation for our sustainable solutions, maximizing the multi-channel offering, including positioning, benefits, and value proposition to attract new and retain existing clients.
  • Develop and communicate expertise on investment industry trends as they relate to sustainable solutions.
  • Participate in thought leadership initiatives: blogging, writing papers, conference presentations, webinars.

 

Product Development

  • Contribute to work on new product development ideas with the Product Development team
  • Collaborate with product development and portfolio management colleagues to bring new ideas to market
  • Gather and communicate intelligence from client/prospect/consultant meetings
  • Create client-facing enthusiasm for innovative new products

 

Business Partner

  • Provide proactive support to sales and marketing teams in positioning products; coordinate with portfolio management, sales, product, and marketing to ensure and communicate consistent product positioning and messaging.
  • Partner with marketing to create marketing collateral, including content for fact sheets, brochures, or web content with the support of the marketing department; develop storylines for fund positioning and provide input on public relations, website, sales presentations, and talking points.
  • Proactively respond to request-for-proposals (RFPs) and due diligence questionnaires (DDQs).
  • Support the development of institutional product pieces, including pitchbooks, impact reports, and product profiles.
  • Develop deep partner relationships across Mackenzie functional units.
  • Bring passion to Sustainable Solutions combined with strong knowledge of the investment industry to interpret and communicate investment performance alongside product impact measurement.

 

Sustainable Product Management Support:

  • Integrate market knowledge and a strong client focus to help our organization manage our sustainable solutions.
  • Participate in the completion of Management Reports of Fund Performance (MRFPs).
  • Work closely with Investment Teams and Sub-advisors to align product strategy.
  • Understand investment strategies, performance, impact, and attribution analysis.
  • Proactively update monthly commentaries and Portfolio Manager presentations.

 

Qualifications

  • At least 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong investment knowledge of the sustainable investing landscape, capital markets, and global asset management trends
  • Advanced knowledge in analytical and data visualization tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors.
  • Comfortable working autonomously with a builder mindset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proven organizational skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience with Tableau, eVestment, and Morningstar Direct is preferred.
  • An MBA or CFA designation is an asset.
