    The Fund Services division at Mackenzie Investments is currently accepting applications for the position of Supervisor, Fund Accounting. We are looking for an experienced individual who has demonstrated strengths in leading a team in process re-engineering, spreadsheet/data base design and development and exception management. The successful candidate will add value through excellent people, project and change management skills.  

    Reporting to the Manager, Fund Accounting the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

    • Leading a team of Fund Accountants to ensure the timely and accurate calculation of net asset values, yields, cash reconciliations and other fund accounting output
    • Performing end of day audit checks to support the calculation of Net Asset Values including the analysis of the increase or decrease of the Net Asset Value
    • Identifying, resolving and when necessary, escalating all fund issues identified  through analysis and exception variance reporting
    • Monitoring existing controls and identifying key operational and financial risks to ensure effective controls are developed and implemented
    • Coaching and developing staff through coaching opportunities, regular feedback sessions and semi-annual performance reviews
    • Ensuring adherence with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
    • Preparing for yearly audits, external and internal auditors and regulators
    • Assisting the Manager in staff and workflow planning to ensure proper coverage of daily work  
    • Assisting in the identification and implementation of procedural improvements and system enhancements. Updating procedural documentation as required.
    • Assisting in various ad hoc duties as necessary

    The following qualifications are required:

    •  At least 5 years work experience in the mutual fund industry with a minimum of one year at the Supervisory level
    • Post-secondary education in business/commerce or equivalent
    • Working experience with Mpower is required
    • Completed or working towards an accounting designation
    • Excellent organizational skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Advanced Excel skills in spreadsheet engineering
    • Proven leadership, coaching and mentoring skills
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision while meeting strict deadlines
    • Flexible and adaptable with the proven ability to learn new applications and processes quickly, identify process improvements and work on projects: think “outside the box”
    • Sound judgment, planning and decision making skills in a fast paced, deadline oriented environment.
    • Proven ability to lead and manage change in an operation setting
    • Advanced knowledge of MS Power Point
    • Proficient with MS Word, Outlook and Visio
    • System conversion and implementation experience is an asset
