    DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: Portfolio Operations is a fast paced, deadline driven area responsible for the capture of essential information used to value mutual funds, ETFs, and SMAs.  Department functions include securities pricing, corporate actions, dividends, trade reporting, settlements, FX, cash projections, market documentation, and securities lending.  We are a shared services division providing services to IG Wealth Management, Mackenzie Investments and Investment Planning Counsel, in support of more than 400 investment funds.


    POSITION SUMMARY: We are currently looking for a Portfolio Operations Administrator. This position requires a self-motivated individual to fill a key administrative role in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.  The main responsibility of this role is rigorously executing critical daily processes to provide essential inputs to the fund accounting for the mutual funds, ETFs and SMAs.   



    • Supporting the daily pricing and fund valuation process
    • Operating and supporting specialist systems for securities valuations and corporate actions
    • Assisting in fundamental analysis of corporate and government financials underlying security valuations
    • Gathering, analyzing, validating and distributing dividend, corporate action, and proxy information
    • Ensuring correct and timely posting of all corporate actions, including solicitation and onward reporting of instructions, and identifying financial accounting and tax accounting implications
    • Communicating professionally with portfolio managers, custodians, issuers, data vendors, brokers, auditors, and law firms
    • Preparing documentation in conjunction with the legal and compliance departments for markets, tax agencies, brokers, IPOs, loans, and private placements
    • Researching and creating security profiles of financial instruments


    • Two to four years experience in an accounting/operations related position (experience with mutual funds, securities/investments, foreign currency translation and derivatives preferred)
    • Post secondary degree/diploma specializing in Accounting/Finance/Commerce/Business
    • Working towards completion of the Canadian Securities Course and Derivatives Fundamental Course
    • Familiarity with systems such as MPower, Bloomberg, and SSCNet
    • Proficiency in PC software such as MS Excel and Word
    • Programming/development and data management skills an asset
    • Ability to work independently in a time sensitive environment and deal with fluctuating work volumes is required
    • A high attention to detail is required
    • Good written and verbal communications skills
