    Mackenzie is currently recruiting for the position of Legal Counsel in the Legal Department. Reporting to the Vice President, Legal, you will work closely with a group of legal professionals and business leaders on a range of securities and general corporate/commercial matters, including the preparation of prospectuses and other continuous disclosure filings, as well as advising on policy and regulatory matters, product development, and other areas relevant to Mackenzie’s businesses.

     

    Responsibilities:  

    • Drafting disclosure documents and material contracts for retail investment products
    • Support new product development
    • Support institutional investment management activities in Canada and other jurisdictions
    • Contract negotiation (trading documentation, service agreements, other corporate contracts)
    • Regulatory review and analysis, including securities laws and other applicable Canadian and foreign legislation
    • External counsel oversight

     Key requirements for this role include:

    • 3-6 years of experience as a lawyer at a large law firm or in-house
    • Solid academic track record
    • Demonstrated superior skill in drafting agreements or public disclosure documents
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
    • Ability to work independently to proactively bring projects to completion  
    • Superior time management skills
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Mutual fund, institutional investing, securities experience, and/or a strong interest in the investment management industry will be considered assets
