    The Role:


    The Client Analytics team at Mackenzie Investments is accepting applications for the position of Automation Specialist – Innovation and Engagement.  Reporting to the Client Insights Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, supporting, and documenting macros and VB.NET applications to support analytics and business processes.


    Responsibilities include:

    • Developing VBA macros and VB.NET applications to support analytics and reporting
    • Working with business partners to identify automation requirements, benefits, and risks
    • Working with the Client Analytics team to determine data needs of existing and new automation tools
    • Coordinating with business partners to run pilots for new deployments and collect feedback
    • Collaborating with business leaders and training teams to ensure the creation of appropriate training material
    • Building tools to improve processes by increasing efficiency, reducing rework, and enhancing quality
    • Performing unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and code reviews
    • Providing support to business partners when errors or issues arise through the use of macros and tools
    • Preparing documentation for training, reference aids, and standard operating procedure
    • Maintaining applications and macros to ensure usability and functionality across system and program upgrades
    • Identify bugs and compatibility issues, and deploying updates where necessary
    • Enhancing existing macros and applications to align with process, policy, and regulatory changes
    • Deploying updates to improve efficiency and quality when opportunities are identified


    The following qualifications will assist the successful candidate in carrying out these responsibilities:



    • Proficiency in VB.NET, VBA, and SQL
    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially Access and Excel
    • Proficiency with R and Python is considered an asset
    • Familiarity with Tableau is considered asset


    • Completion of a post-secondary degree or equivalent with emphasis in computer science or business.
    • At least 2 years experience in a programming or analytics role ideally within the financial industry
    • Demonstrated experience in developing VB.NET applications and VBA macros
    • Excellent time management skills and a proven ability to manage multiple demands
    • Self-motivated with strong analytical and problem-solving expertise
    • Good interpersonal and organizational skills
    • Sound judgment and decision-making ability
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Industry certifications or designations are an asset, including IFIC, IFIC Operations, CSC etc.
    • Bilingual (French) is an asset
