    IGM Technology is modernizing the way we deliver digital solutions by embracing Agile and DevOps. Our DevOps community of practice is leading the transformation of software development techniques in our Toronto and Winnipeg head offices.

    For the first time, we are hiring for a new fulltime role that we call a DevOps Release Engineer. This role will be part of our small DevOps team and will embed itself in to the various product teams building and delivering web solutions and web services. These teams are using platforms such as SAP Hana, Mulesoft and Salesforce. The team members use Git via Bitbucket to check in their code and Jenkins Pipelines to orchestrate the build, tests, quality and security scans. For Continuous Delivery, we have Sonarqube & Selenium integrated in the pipeline delivering to Artifactory. A team of Tool-smiths, keep the pipeline running smoothly.


    This role will be responsible for a diverse set of functions dedicated to the product teams they are assigned to.  The functions are:

    • Git Trainer
    • Code branching, merging and pull request code review Facilitator
    • Semantic Versioning Evangelist
    • Build Manager
    • Release Manager
    • Code Pipeline Engineer


    The role will follow the best practices established by the DevOps Adoption Team and will collaborate with each of the product team's Scrum/Flow Masters, Product Owners and Development Team members.

    The role will coach the entire team on delivery best practices for each of their iterations for continuous improvement. These practices include the following:

    • Establish the team's pattern for version control
    • Build and support automated builds
    • Support daily continuous integration
    • Establish the team's process for code reviews
    • Advise team members on best practices in Release Management
    • Strive for continuous improvement and maturity for more advanced techniques: Dark Launching, Canary Releases and A/B Testing


    Required Skills

    • Version Control with Git
    • Experience with Multi-branch pipelines
    • Configuration Management with Ansible
    • Experience with Test Automation using Selenium
    • Python, Groovy, Java
    • Jenkins / Jenkins Pipeline configuration
    • Cloud deployment experience (AWS, Azure, GCP, Cloud Foundry)
    • Confluence, JIRA, Git, Bitbucket, Maven, Jenkins, Sonarqube, Artifactory
    • very good indepth knowledge about DevOps concepts, techniques, tools and culture
    • 3+ years of continuous integration experience
    • 1+ years of continuous delivery

    • pro-active, problem-solving attitude and ability to work calmly under pressure
    • excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • comfortable presenting to colleagues and all levels of management
    • experience working in Agile (Scrum, Kanban) environments

    • 2 years relevant experience in DevOps as a developer or systems administrator role
    • 7+ years of work experience supporting or implementing new application technology into a large scale infrastructure environment
    • Bachelor of Computer Science, Engineering, Science university degree or equivalent education
    • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
    • Superior communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently
    • Proven ability to write effective documentation that is clear and meaningful to its target audience
    • Effective internal consulting skills with a strong customer service orientation
    • Detail oriented with proven success setting work priorities, multi-tasking and balancing varying demands
    • Ability to lead and mentor others
    • Positive attitude and ability to learn new technologies quickly
    • Dedication to keeping up to date with current trends and best practices
    • Previous work at a large financial institution would be a definite asset
