    The Director, Application Support is responsible for providing leadership for the application support activities within the IGM Technology division.  The Director’s primary purpose is to provide strategic guidance and controls ensuring consistent and quality application support services to meet business mission and core objectives.  The ideal candidate will have an active management style, an understanding of application support and experience working in a DevOps environment.  Scheduled/ad hoc travel and off-hour support will be required for this position.

     

    DUTIES INCLUDE

    • Establish and continually refine incident and problem management including root cause analysis and critical outage response capabilities
    • Accountable to ensure effective monitoring of application availability, responsiveness, health, security and integrity of systems including application maintenance and patching activities occurs
    • Responsible for operations focused project support and transition activities
    • Participate and support internal and external application security and compliance audits
    • Develop an annual business plan and operating budget for area of responsibility and monitor
      to ensure financial targets are met
    • Accountable for the management, mentoring and career development of all staff within team. (team composition, hiring, motivation, retention, performance/rewards assessments, development/corrective actions etc.)
    • Drive an entrepreneurial culture that researches, tests and implements innovative ideas and trends for application support and DevOps structures
    • Ensure support methodologies, processes, and standards are current and optimized, including improvement of operation/support practices

     

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

    • Minimum 10 years progressively senior experience in an application delivery environment, with minimum 8 years’ experience in a leadership role
    • Experience within a 24x7 production environment, preferably across multiple data centers and 3rd party cloud environments
    • Experience with effective incident and problem management practices
    • Experience planning and estimating resource requirements
    • Experience developing annual application support plans
    • Experiences in all phases of a project life cycle
    • Experience in financial planning, forecasting and expense controlling in an IT environment
    • Knowledge of ITSM or ITOM activities and their role and implementation in a large corporation
    • Knowledge of risk assessment and management techniques
    • Knowledge of IS project management principles and practices including scope, issue, and risk management
    • Knowledge of methodologies and standards for application delivery and support – specific work experience in a DevOPS environment is an asset
    • Knowledge of IT Production Support and Disaster Recovery environment, tools, and practices including Disaster Recovery
