    The Manager, Middleware and Database Services is responsible for providing leadership for the middleware and database services within the IGM Technology division.  The Manager’s primary purpose is to provide leadership and oversight ensuring consistent and quality services to deliver and support our business mission and core objectives.  The ideal candidate will have an active management style, an understanding of middleware and database technologies and experience working in a DevOps environment.  Scheduled/ad hoc travel and off-hour support will be required for this position.




    • In partnership with the application support organization establish and continually refine incident and problem management including root cause analysis and critical outage response capabilities
    • Responsible to ensure effective monitoring of middleware and database availability, responsiveness, health, security and integrity, and maintenance and patching activities occur
    • Responsible to establish close and effective working relationships with application delivery and application support teams to whom you provide services to
    • Responsible for project and operational support and transition activities
    • Participate and support internal and external application security and compliance audits
    • Develop an annual business plan and operating budget for area of responsibility and monitor
      to ensure financial targets are met
    • Responsible for the management, mentoring and career development of all staff within team. (team composition, hiring, motivation, retention, performance/rewards assessments, development/corrective actions etc.)
    • Foster an entrepreneurial culture that researches, tests and implements innovative ideas and trends for application support and DevOps structures
    • Ensure technical documentation, processes, and standards are current and optimized, including standardization and improvement of the technology team’s practices




    • University degree/college certificate in Information Technology, and/or equivalent work experience of 10+ years – particularly in leadership/management of delivery and support of technical services
    • Experience in a team environment with projects involving the integration of disparate types of technologies/platforms in an agile/DevOPS environment
    • Demonstrated ability to quickly evaluate options, make decisions and execute within an intense high-tech environment
    • Demonstrated initiative and leadership abilities, comfortable managing issues in cross functional teams
    • Experience executing IT production support within a 24x7 production environment, preferably across multiple data centers and 3rd party cloud environments (including disaster recovery capabilities)
    • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective partnerships and relationships
    • Experiences in all phases of a project life cycle
    • Experience in resource and financial planning, forecasting and expense controlling in an IT environment
    • Experience with effective incident and problem management practices
    • Knowledge of IS project management principles and practices including scope, issue, and risk management
    • Knowledge of ITSM or ITOM activities and their role and implementation in a large corporation
