    Mackenzie Investments is currently accepting applications for the position of Financial Analyst, Fund Taxation within the Fund Tax Services department.

    About the Fund Tax Services team

    Located as part of Mackenzie Investments in Toronto, the Fund Tax Services team is a shared service within IGM Financial. The successful candidate will be part of the team responsible for tax compliance and distributions and is a key tax resource for all fund related products.  The team’s primary functions include:

    • Tax compliance and reporting for investment funds including mutual fund trusts, ETFs, mutual fund corporations, segregated funds, and other entities
    • Distribution estimates and monthly, quarterly and annual distribution calculations for these investment funds
    • Tax research and analysis related to investment fund launches, operations, changes and mergers

     

    About the Analyst position

    Reporting to the AVP, Fund Tax Services, the Analyst’s duties include:

    • Preparing tax returns and related filings for various investment funds
    • Calculating periodic fund distributions and estimated distributions for these investment funds
    • Performing ad hoc research and analysis relating to investment fund mergers and similar events
    • Reviewing corporate actions and recommending appropriate responses
    • Documenting internal procedures
    • Implementing process improvements as required

     

    To carry out these responsibilities, the Analyst requires these qualifications:

    • Undergraduate degree, preferably in accounting or finance
    • Enrollment in a program leading to an accounting designation or a tax accreditation is preferred
    • Tax or accounting experience in the investment fund industry is an asset
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
    • Capacity to manage multiple competing projects and deadlines, as well as a fluctuating workload
    • Strong analytical and organizational skills with high attention to detail
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Advanced computer skills, including expert proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office products; knowledge of VBA is an asset
    • Knowledge of tax preparation software and fund reporting software is an asset
    • Willingness to learn and seek enhancements to existing processes
